Background

Greefa, established in the Netherlands in 1940, has a long history of pioneering fruit and vegetable grading technology. Decades later, in 2003, MED Automation Pty Ltd began its journey in Paarl, South Africa. The two companies joined forces in 2007 when MED secured an exclusive manufacturing agreement with Greefa in South Africa, strengthening their shared mission of bringing advanced sorting solutions to new markets. This partnership deepened in 2012, as MED became the exclusive agent for Greefa across Sub-Saharan Africa. Today, this collaboration brings Greefa’s global expertise and cutting-edge technology together with MED’s local support and manufacturing, serving diverse fruit and vegetable producers. Operating in over 40 countries, the Greefa & MED Automation team proudly offers over 100 years of combined industry knowledge, delivering trusted, world-class solutions to producers worldwide.

    GREEFA is proud to have provided the first intelligent quality sorting in fruit handling in the world. Since 1996 IQS has been installed worldwide – another first in progressive defect sorting on Citrus called iPIX.
